Lets be Friends Blog Hop

Welcome to the Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

A blog hop is a set time frame for current or aspiring bloggers to find new blogs and quality content. It is a great way to make new friends and find inspiration! It is also a fabulous way to promote your own blog and posts.

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 48th Let's Be Friends Blog Hop!

Join us every Tuesday at 7am (MST). This blog hop focuses on content. LINK UP YOUR FAVORITE POST from last week in this fun content-sharing blog hop! I love the idea of blog hopping, but I love the idea of reading posts and quality content on new blogs I've never been to even more. Instead of simply linking up your blog button, you are now able to link up your favorite post you recently wrote. Have a delicious recipe to share, DIY tutorial, or heartfelt post? Share it with us! All hosts and co-hosts put up some unique and fun content from the past week. Make sure to check them out. P.S.- you may still link up your blog button and blog name, but it is encouraged to link up your favorite post instead. You will get more page views and interest if you do so! Some of the most successful blog hops I have participate in focus on content rather than just exchanging follows. You never know who will become a loyal follower or pin that delicious new recipe you posted!

For the past 47 weeks the wonderful and lovely Mandi at All My Happy Endings has been hosting with us. We will all miss her sweet face here each week dearly! She has been amazing!

With that, I am excited to say big welcome this week to Chelsee at Southern Beauty Guide as our new host. Please say hello to her! She is an amazing gal and blogger and I am looking forward to her being an integral part of this blog hop!

The BEST part of this blog hop? Each week there will be a WINNER! That's right, each week we will choose one lucky blog to feature from the previous week's hop. This hop receives thousands of page views every week, so your blog will have the chance to be center stage for free. You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win. Only those who link up a specific post are eligible to be featured! *You must follow all the hosts and co-hosts in order to win.

The last exciting change is that the co-host spots will now be available to all sponsors of  The Dwelling Tree or Southern Beauty Guide. If you are interested in co-hosting the blog hop, email Tiffany or Chelsee about sponsorship opportunities and how to co-host the weekly hop!

This week I stumbled across this great blog- Such a Mama! Ann blogs all about her life and the many projects she does with her children. She has some awesome crafts on her blog!

I really loved this post about melting crayons into shapes using ice cube trays. My toddlers chubby little fingers love different shapes and textures, so I thought this was a brilliant idea! Ann and her son in preschool made these together and she was able to teach him how to bake and talk about the process of melting. I love crafts and projects that are teachable moments for children too, teaching them a combination of math, reading, or science!

Thanks Ann for this colorful and fun tutorial. Go check her blog out!

Her blog focuses on many other things like stocking your kitchen with essentials and other great recipes. Go check her out!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for me to read all your posts! If you can, please post a specific post. It makes it easier for me to come and visit!

This week I stumbled across this great blog- Lydia's Flexitarian Kitchen! She is all about reducing the amount of meat in our diet. After watching Forks over Knives I was convinced that too much meat is a bad thing! I have never really been a huge meat eater (Vegetarian for over 10 years of my life!), so I love great vegetarian recipes.

I loved the idea of substituting beans in meals. Recently I had the most amazing Mediterranean bean burgers. She had a lentil loaf recipe and a skillet chicken cacciatore recipe! Yum!

Her blog focuses on many other things like stocking your kitchen with essentials and other great recipes. Go check her out!

New Year Goals

It's a new year! Another 365 days to do things I love, spend time with family and just be happy. I hate looking back at the end of a year and feeling like I didn't accomplish anything, so instead of making new year resolutions to lose weight or eat healthier, I like to make goals that I can actually look back at and slowly mark off through out the year.

Here are some things I would like to accomplish in 2014.
1. Obtain my BSN degree.
2. Complete a quilt from start to finish
3.Handquilt my grandmothers quilt she was unable to finish.
4.Run a 5K
5.Make some solid building plans for my home.
6.Document 2013 in my Smashbook.
7.Read at least 12 books.
8. Go on the Wild Cave tour at Mammoth Cave National Park
9.Become Picc line or ACLS certified
10.Grow a Garden, and do some canning.

and because ever post needs a picture...

I came across Krysta's blog- Krysta Steen, last week! I loved the idea of doing a year in review and recapping your most popular blog posts. Brilliant.

This cowboy caviar caught my eye, along with many other great posts. DIY milk glass vases, crock pot cinnamon sugar almonds, and lemon sugar scrub were some other great posts she had highlighted.

Krysta is a health nut and has lots of great recipes and ideas for staying in shape and feeling good. Check out her blog!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for me to read all your posts!

Photographer's Christmas Wishlist

I can barely call myself a photographer. Actually I can't call myself a photographer. But I do have a DSLR camera and I can shoot in manual so I guess I'm close right?

I can already feel this christmas being "photographer" themed.  Here's a few of the things I'm asking for.

1. Photoshop Elements 12-  I definitely need this! My pictures could use some editing, and I want to begin shooting in RAW.

2. Camera bag- This Jo Tote literally made my heart skip a beat!  This mint color is amazingly beautiful and I want this bag so bad.  I don't know if I could fork out the money for it or ask someone to get it for me but I sure do love it!

3. Lens Cap Holder- I always end up throwing my Lens cap down or trying to hold it awkwardly while taking the perfect shot so having this lens cap holder on my camera strap would be perfect!

4. SD Card Reader- This is a necessity, I can't believe I have lived this long without one to be honest.  I hate nothing more than trying to find the USB cord that fits that certain camera to get the pictures of the SD card, it would be so  much easy to have a reader to pop the card in and download the pictures to the computer.

5. Macro Filters- I'm not real sure what these are or how to use them, but they are cheap and look neat, so I'll give them a try!

6. LensPens cleaning pens-  Two words- MUST HAVE!

7. Cannon 50mm f/1.8 lens-  Need I say more, this lens is said to be one of the best camera lens to have. So of course I must get one to try out!

Saw it, Pinned it, Did it: Thanksgiving Decor

Better late than never right! This is my Saw it, Pinned it, Did it Thanksgiving Decor.  To let everyone in on a little secret and tell on myself for being such a slacker, I didn't actually put this sign up until the day of Thanksgiving.  I know I'm terrible but it'll be ready for me next year!

For this sign I painted my background with white wash paint and spray painted my words on. It was super easy to do, anyone can do it! Here is the pin where I received my inspiration.

I still like hers some what better, but mine is cute too!!
