That one time....

Let's talk about the time I prove my boyfriend wrong, the time I showed him I wasn't the blonde he thought I was. After months of embarrassment and jokes I can now laugh and say haha I'm not that big of an idiot.

So let me tell ya a story....

One day, Micah called me on his lunch break. He's heading to get his lunch at mcdonalds while he talks to me about his day and other random stuff.  As he is pulling in mcdonalds, our conversation goes a little something like this.

Micah: Hey, they are painting the redbox!

Me: oh really, what color?

Micah: really Kenya, what color do you think they are going to paint the REDbox, blue?

Me: I didn't know, I guess they could paint it any color they want.

Micah: rolling laughing

For the next several months, he tells every person he sees. "Hey, meet my girlfriend Kenya. She asked me what color they painted the Redbox!!" Yeah complete embarrassement.

Then one day....

Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Pizza

Strawberry Kiwi has always been my favorite flavor. If strawberry kiwi was an option it was the option I picked! So it was a no brainer when I needed to make a quick and easy snack. This recipe is great for any party and if you can forget about the cream cheese and sugar, its healthy too ;)

Strawberry Kiwi Fruit Pizza

Ingredients:
1 package (18 oz) refrigerated Cookie dough.
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup Sugar

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll cookie dough out onto greased pizza pan. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until lightly browned.  Allow to cool completely

2. While your cooked cookie dough is cooling begin slicing up your fruits. I used about 2 kiwis and 4-5  good size strawberries.

3. In a small bowl combine Cream Cheese and Sugar, mix well. Spread mixture evenly over top of cookie.

4. Arrange kiwi and strawberries on top of mixture. Enjoy!

There you have it, a super easy dessert pizza to take to parties or just enjoy at home!

St. Jude Dream Home

I'm going to assume all you readers already know what St. Jude is. For those who may not, it is a children's research and treatment center for catastrophic diseases. It is well known for only accepting what the child's insurance will pay and not asking for a penny more. It currently costs 1.8 Million dollars a day for St. Jude to be open. Let me say that again, 1.8 MILLION DOLLARS A DAY.

Throughout all my school years, fundraisers were held every year to raise money for St. Jude. We had St. Jude jumpathons, St. Jude Mathathons and all sorts of other little fundraisers to help raise what little bit of money we could to  help out with St. Jude's daily costs.  I listen to the St. Jude radiothon for hours and cry the whole time.  Several years ago two middle school aged children from my hometown were both diagnosed with the same type of leukemia.  They were both treated at St. Jude and both were able to live a few years longer thanks to the treatment at St. Jude.

Another great way money is raised for St. Jude is by a Dream Home Giveaway.  With this a very nice home is built and gave away with no compensation for the contractors. I believe this has been done for 7 years now, but this is my first year actually touring the home and I must say, I am amazed. Tickets to be entered to win the Dream Home are $100 each and several other prizes are also given away as well. Please click to enlarge the pictures, they look way better enlarged!

I wish I could have toured the home sooner, so I could have wrote a blog post before the giveaway was over but I toured it Wednesday night and have been on vacation since Thursday.  I will tour it earlier next year and hopefully will be able to raise a few additional dollars for St. Jude through my post!

2013 Fall TV shows I'm excited for!

One of the best things about fall is the start of new tv shows. I'm excited for this from the time the season finales go off. Here's my list of what I'm looking forward too:

1. Super Fun Night
Premieres: Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 9/8c
Created by Rebel Wilson and Conan O'Brien, the show actually refers to Friday night, not Wednesday. (Missed marketing opportunity, ABC.) That's when Kimmie (Wilson), Helen-Alice (Lauren Ash) and Marika (Liza Lapira) have their long-standing "Friday Fun Night" tradition, in which they stay at home in their pajamas. But that might all be coming to an end now that Kimmie has gotten a promotion at her law firm and is invited to a party by her co-worker Richard (Kevin Bishop). And no, your ears are not deceiving you: Wilson is doing an American accent. Crikey!

2. Trophy Wife
Premieres: Tuesday, Sep. 24 at 9/8c
Malin Akerman is Kate, a reformed party girl who marries Brad (Bradley Whitford) after meeting him at a karaoke bar. He comes with a lot of baggage though: three manipulative kids and two ex-wives (Marcia Gay Harden and Michaela Watkins) who, suffice it to say, don't approve of Kate. Shocking!

3. Lucky 7

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 24, 10/9c
An adaptation of the British series The Syndicate, seven employees (Stephen Louis Grush, Matt Long, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Summer Bishil, Anastasia Phillips, Lorraine Bruce and Luis Antonio Ramos) at a Queens gas station find their lives upended when they win the lottery.
4. The Millers

Premieres: Thursday, Sep. 26 at 8/7c
In his third show on a third network in four years, Will Arnett plays Nathan Miller, a news reporter who makes the mistake of telling his parents Tom (Beau Bridges) and Carol (Margo Martindale) that he just got divorced. Why? Tom then decides to leave Carol, who moves in Nathan. If you like fart jokes, this is the show for you!
5. Back In The Game

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 25, 8:30/7:30c
Batter up! Psych's Maggie Lawson stars as a divorced single mother and former all-star softball player who moves in with her estranged father, Terry "The Cannon" Gannon Sr. (James Caan), a beer-swilling ex-baseball player. Father and daughter reconnect when they start coaching a Little League team together. The comedy comes from Las Vegas' Mark and Robb Cullen, and also stars Ben Koldyke and Lenora Crichlow.
6. Greys Anatomy

Premieres: Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9/8c
Season 10 will pick up right where we left off. Callie will act out in the wake of Arizona's infidelity, Meredith will have to navigate being a new mother, April and Jackson will decide whether they should be together, and Cristina and Owen will have to grapple with what their latest breakup means. Expect a big occasion for the upcoming 200th episode — which hopefully won't feature Webber's funeral. "To me, the biggest thing about the 200th is realizing and seeing that our original interns have grown up and they are these very badass surgeons at this point," executive producer Shonda Rhimes says. Original cast member Sandra Oh will leave the show at the end of the season.

7. Nashville

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 25, 10/9c
Season 2 will find Deacon struggling both with his sobriety and with fatherhood. "I don't think Deacon ever thought of himself as father material and as the season goes on we'll see him grapple with why he feels that way and whether or not he's right," creator Callie Khouri says. Rayna, on the other hand, feels "liberated" now that her secret is out and her marriage to Teddy is over. And while Juliette is still coping with her mother's death, she'll still make bad decisions. "I don't know if we'll ever see a time when [Juliette's] not screwing up something for herself," Khouri hints.

8. Big Bang Theory

Premieres Sept 26th-Leonard won't be back from the research trip when Season 7 premieres — we'll see him work on the expedition — which gives Penny and Sheldon ample time to bond, so much so that Penny doesn't go on Bernadette and Amy's girls' trip. Having overcome his selective mutism, Raj won't be able to shut up around the ladies, and we might finally meet his parents in the flesh. Though Amy and Sheldon made progress intimately via their Dungeon & Dragons avatars, their relationship will continue to move at a glacial pace. Regina King will return as the university's director of human resources.

Needless to say my DVR will be full!  What TV show's are you excited for??

Guess What I Got....

This weekend has been one for the books! My weekends are not normally exciting enough to do a weekend post but I have to share what all has happened this weekend. I didn't get off work til 8 on Friday, so we will just skip over that day.  On to Saturday!

Saturday morning, My boyfriend and I got up super early and went to the drag strip. A big event was going on and there was tons to do at the park. We watched an LS engine swap, some autocross, looked at some good cars, and watched a whole lot of drag races.

Once we were to hot and tired to be there any longer, we headed home so I could check the mail. And there it was...

My new Canon DSLR was sitting on the front porch, I absolutely love it. Thanks to my boyfriend, I got it way sooner than I had plan on purchasing one. So to celebrate the new arrival, I spent the rest of the day taking pictures.

I still have so much to learn, and I can't wait. A macro lens came with the camera but I believe I'm going to need a wide angle lens too, any one want to buy me one??? haha Sunday was jam packed and I was so busy I didn't take any decent pictures. I do have a funny story to share. Boyfriend's tractor tore up so as he was working on pulling it home, I was goofing off on the four wheeler. It began to sprinkle and I high tailed it to the house. One I got to the house I parked the four wheeler under some trees so I wouldn't get soaking wet and waited for him to make it back to the house. While I was waiting, bugs started swarming around me. I didn't think much about it, swatted a time or too and decided to get off before those bugs started biting. Once I got a few feet away from the four wheeler I started watching this swarming and realized I parked the four wheeler in a huge yellow jacket nest. Yup that's right, leave it to me to park a four wheeler in a yellow jacket nest. At one point I bet there was 200 yellow jackets, if not way more on that four wheeler. After several hours, the four wheeler was still being swarmed but not as bad, so put the four wheeler in neutral and pulled it out from the nest. My boyfriend ended up getting stung but only once. I can't believe I didn't get stung multiple times.

August favorites

I can not believe August is already over! You can forget a goals recap for this month because I didn't get any of it done! I really hope September takes it a little easier on us and sticks around longer.

Here lately I've gotten a little more into doing my make up and hair. I got into a rut there for a while and kinda gave up on all that sort of stuff. I work 12 hour shifts and only actually "go out" one night a week. The rest of the time, I just hang out in the country and enjoy nature! Anyhow, I have a few favorite things I'd like to share!

1. Julep Pedi Crème: "The Best Pedi Crème" is printed right on the label and I must agree. I've been using this pretty frequently this month and the heels of my feet are the softest they have ever been.  It says to expect noticeable results in 1 to 2 applications and I did after one use!

2. Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil: I seen online somewhere that this is a dupe for Mac Cleanse Off oil and I seen a review about how great it was and thought I would try it. I couldn't be happier. I will definitely keep the as number one in my skin care routine. Rube one to two drops on your face and your makeup literally melts off. My face has never felt more clean after using this.

3. Loreal Eversleek Frizz Taming Creme Serum: I have to be careful with products like these. My hair gets greasy very easy and quick. I've tried several other serums similar to this and have not had good results. I was very surprised when I tried this and seen that my hair was frizz free and not greasy at all. It was the perfect balance.

4. Pure ice nail polish in Home Run: let's just start by saying you can't beat $1.97 nail polish. This brand goes on very smooth, covers well and doesn't chip very quickly. I also love the mint color. mint has definitely been my favorite color this summer.

5. Sephora 10HR wear perfection foundation: I think this foundation is very similar to Revlon's Colorstay, only Sephora's is way better! It stays on well, my face looks smooth without having to use BB cream and it feels so light.

6. Elf Lip Exfoliator: $3 from target you can't beat it. It works amazing too! Embarrassing secret, I'm the worlds worst lip chewer. I can't help it sometimes I don't even realize I'm doing it. It's a terrible habit I know! I think I can break this happen using this product. My lips have been so much smoother and look way better. I'm almost ready to start wearing lipstick and now it will actually look good.

7. Pandora Bracelet: I actually bought this last month but I've been giving it a lot of attention this month. It matches my rose gold watch perfectly. It's just a tad to big but hey we make it work!

8. Serena by Ron Rash: I don't know how much I love this book but its the only book I've read this month and guess what I'm still not done. I started reading this because the movie remake it coming out in 2014 with Jennifer Lawrence starring. Unless there is some awesome ending I'll be waiting for it to hit red box before I'll be watching it.
