Little Lonely Peony

My poor, poor, neglected blog! Oh how I miss you and not to worry, I do think about you often! Have you missed me? Things have been SUPER crazy since I last wrote because Spring is here! Thank God spring is here! Spring, Flowers and being outside is definitely a high priorty to me. I definitely have a problem with my addiction to flowers, and the past couple of weeks I have been planning and planting all types of different flowers.  That could be one of the reasons I have been missing in action(plus work and school take up alot of time too). I have got to learn how to be more active with this blog!

So yesterday, I was looking at my little lonely peony over in the corner all by its little self. As it sits right not no one even notices it or just thinks its an overgrown weed haha! So I thought I would give it a little spicing up.  Sorry for the phone pictures, I wasn't planning on posting this.

Here's the after picture.  I used some of these edging rocks that a friend gave me, mulch, impatients and repurposed some decor.  Isn't it just beautfiul. I am in love! And it'll look amazing once those impatient start growing!

This was the before on the decor thing(don't really know what else to call it) I used. The wooden box it was sitting in was falling apart, there was no longer any paint on it and that stuff in the middle was just plain ugly.  Therefore I repurposed it into a yard ornament.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you enjoyed the visit! Come back now ya hear!

Whats in my Purse?

I absolutely love What's in my Purse blog posts. I don't know what it is about seeing what other people have in their purses, but I find it fun!  They say you can tell a lot about a person based on whats inside their purse but who knows! If you would have seen in my purse 2 weeks ago, you would have thought I was a pen hoarder, which is entirely not true. I only had 16 pens that I promptly returned to my work.

This is my purse. I bought this coach bag, 2 years ago I believe. It was the very first coach bag I had ever purchased, and my excitement was unreal. I mean it's only a purse right?!

Feel free to take a second to laugh.
Ok, so here's the junk I keep in it! It looks all organized in this picture but it's normally a wreck inside my purse!

1. The first thing in this picture is a little bag I received with samples in it from target.  I keep deodorant, pens, lipstick, basically anything that can get all over everything in my purse.
2. A coach wallet I received as a Christmas gift
3. Gum- must always have some type of gum!
4. This is a buckeye. I bet y'all are thinking, why the heck does she have a buckeye in her purse?!? Long story short, my boyfriend gave it to me when we first started dating and said it was good luck. It's been in my purse ever since.
5. My favorite pen and medical scissors. These items leave my purse once we get to work.
6. Keys with an ugly leather keychain, but it makes them easy to find in my purse so I'm keeping it!
7. Elle Reading glasses and case
8. Aveeno lotion, Carmex, Eso lip balm, and Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer.  These items are not in the little bag so it's easy to grab while I'm driving.
9. This little gadget is the neatest thing ever.  A portable iphone charger.  You can get one at Uncommon Goods
10. Oh my iphone, this little baby runs my life.
11. Last but not least, my synthyroid. I do not function well without it.

Since you have seen inside my purse, I guess now you know me on some deep intimate level. or not, it's still fun to look at my junk right?!

Displaying Memories

Pinspiraton has struck again!  The amount of time I spend on pinterest is unmeasurable.  I have ran across several pins of people framing old doilies, scarfs and various other things, and just skipped right over it without pinning, liking or giving it a minutes thought.  However, something about those pins stuck with me and I kept thinking about what a neat idea it was. Of course, if you see anything on pinterest you like you better pin it then because chances are you will never find it again.  I never could find a pin like the one I had seen again, so I just winged it.

I  had found several old scarfs in my late grandmothers house which has been vacant for 12 years now. Surprisingly they were in perfect shape. I also found some pretty gross old frames as well.  I wanted to display these scarfs some way so their beauty could be remembered and not forgotten. So the work began.

I ripped the old frames apart, washed them up, and gave them some fresh ivory paint.  When it came time to place the scarfs in the frame something wasn't looking right.  Then I thought "well crap now what am I going to do." So into the family trunk I went and found these beautiful embroidery doilies and old quilt.

Yes I know they don't look straight. I promise you they are. I took what seemed to be 100 pictures and each time a different one would look crooked, lower than the other or just not right all together. But anyhow, the embroidered doilies seen in the middle are actually believed to have been my great grandmothers, but they were found at my grandmothers house so there is no way to be for sure.  The old quilt was actually a quilt that didn't stand the test of time, it had holes all in it and was very dirty.

Nearly everything in this guest bedroom is vintage, including the bedroom suite.  The quilt on the bed was even made by my grandmother. This is just a great way to display all the heirlooms passed down in the family.
