Spray Painting Wicker furniture

This is a pretty nice chair you say. Well let me start by saying. It didn't look this good at first and needed a little bit of work... So here's the story.

Some of the best yard sale finds are wicker furniture. You don't have to be picky about the color because you can easily spray paint it.

I found this wicker chair at a yard sale for $5. I didn't have a plan for it at the time but I did shortly after.

I test sprayed the chair to make sure this was the right color first.

Once I made sure I had the right color, I primed the chair. I used some kilz I had from a project I did a few years ago. Then spray painted some light coats and let it dry.

Now it's ready to go in the sun room with the rest of the furniture.

This room looks so good now. Since I took this picture, the table in the corner and the wicker chair have switched places and looks more functional.

Our "sun room" has become our most favorite room in the house, if there was a TV out there I don't think we would ever go inside!

Damn I pin awesome shit

My thoughts exactly....

I'm currently sitting outside looking at my pins on Pinterest thinking there's so many things I want to do but not enough time to do them!

Sure, I'd love to try all 480 recipes I have pinned, completed the gazillion crafts, have an amazing closet, gorgeous hair and the best house on the block.  BUT that's not going to happen!

So I'll keep thumbing through my pins drooling, try the occasional recipe and complete a craft here and there. And just enjoy the stuff I do! But damn, I pin such awesome shit!

Thoughts on Pallet Gardens...They Suck

Back in March I wrote a 30 before 30 post which you can find here.  One of the things I wanted to do was grow a garden.  I didn't really want to go through all the hard work of actually tilling the land and all that great stuff so I found some interesting ways to garden on Pinterest.

Pallet Gardens.

So basically, all a pallet garden is, is a pallet with a bunch of dirt in it. Then you plant your fruits or vegetables in between the planks of wood.  This seemed like an awesome idea at first. But turned out to be a crappy one real quick.

Reason #1 why pallet gardens suck.
They dry out super quick.  Since pallet gardens are basically container gardening they loose moisture quick. Therefore requiring much more frequent watering. And of course where I chose to place my pallet garden there is no source of water except rain water.

Reason #2 why pallet gardens suck.
They need to be fertilized frequently. Since there is only a small amount of dirt in the pallet the plants use up the nutrient real quick. Therefore fertilizing becomes a must.  This is something I have definitely scrimped on, making my veggies kinda sorry looking.

Reason #3 why pallet gardens suck.
You have to fill the dang pallet up with dirt. That had to be the worst part of the whole experience. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on dirt to fill up my pretty good size pallet so I dug up dirt. and  I needed a WHOLE bunch of dirt.

There are several reasons why pallet gardens would be a good thing but I have already decided they suck and will be having just a plain ole garden next year!

Happy Sunday Ya'll

How Great Thou art was played this morning at church and I cry literally ever time I hear it. This song is so powerful and means so much to me. Carrie Underwood's version is by far my favorite. Hope this makes your day bright! Happy Sunday Ya'll!

90 Minutes in Heaven

I thank god everyday for my normal life. Most don't think about how lucky they are to have all 5 senses, to be able to eat, and walk. However this is something I thank god for every night I pray. I see it all to often. A person who is unable to eat normally and then needing tube feedings. Or someone who is unable to walk.

I just recently read a book called 90 minutes in heaven. If you haven't read it you need to. This book is written kind of poorly in my opinion but I think that makes it feel that more real. A normal person wrote this book not some famous author. I thanked god for my health on a daily basis before but after reading this book I've became ever more thankful.

This book teaches you to be thankful for what you have, it gives you reassurance of heaven when needed but most of all it shows you that you need to be prepared because you can lose your life at any moment.

Here is the book....

Here is Don Piper's interview on the 700 club...

After speaking with a man I met today(which was a preacher) I have decided it is important to share my beliefs about near death experiences. I do not know if I actually believe in these experiences where people say they have gone to heaven and returned to earth. I am not saying I don't believe in it either. I believe God is very capable of doing this if he wanted too. The reason I enjoyed this book wasn't because the man told a story of going to heaven, I enjoyed it because after his accident he was thankful for the level of functioning he regained and I enjoyed how strong he became spiritually. What this man has experienced has made him a stronger person and has strengthen his walk with the lord.  His story of heaven has brightened many days and is a great witness to lost souls.

10 Random Facts

Since I have just started blogging, I thought I might give everyone a slight insight to me and hopefully avoid some awkwardness on down the road.  So, here is my '10 Random Facts About Me' post. Lets go...

1. That's me up there.
2. I am an only child.
3. My first car was a Volkswagen that changed colors (Seriously!)

4.I'm a pretty lazy person. Maybe I shouldn't point out a flaw, but it is what it is.  I try to do better but I love nothing more than sitting on the porch with my Ipad.

5.I have 4 pets.  A cocker spaniel named Rilee, and 3 cats: Dura, Cliff, and Maddie.  Cliff Is definitely my baby and is at my side constantly.

6. I am the farthest thing from a picky eater. I will eat nearly any type of food or at least try it. I absolutely love trying new foods.

7. I  might be a tiny bit of a hoarder.  The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have a problem haha.  I don't hoard junk like papers and old grocery sacks or dead cats, but I do hoard stuff that I believe holds a sentimental value.

8.I love making lists.  Making lists and crossing stuff off gives me a sense of accomplishment.

9. I want to adopt one day.

10.  I love hiking and traveling...discovering new places and trying new things are the best way to experience life.

Product Review: Olay Fresh Effect BB Cream

BB Creams have become one of the most popular makeup products around. Every brand of make up has their own BB cream and some are even coming out with CC creams.  I first started using BB creams a few months ago and have been using the Garnier brand.  I usually use BB cream as part of my daily make up routine. So I was beyond excited when I opened my Influenster box to see a full size tube of Olay Fresh Effect BB cream to try out.

The BB cream that I received was the "Fair to Light" color, which is great for me because I'm pretty pale!  However I believe this BB cream was a tad to light for me, I seemed a little washed out.  I bet it will look great in the winter months when I have less color.

I loved how moisturizing it was and I also love the SPF in it. I also love the fact that I can apply this super fast in the morning and not need any extra foundation. The BB cream also offers 6 skin care benefits in just one step.

There was only one con to me. This product seemed to be more greasy in comparison to the Garnier brand I'm use to. Even after several hours my face still felt greasy.

Overall I would purchase this product again. I may even purchase a little dark tone for these summer months! Want to purchase some for yourself? Head over to see Olay Fresh Effects  to see the nearest store to you.

I received Fresh Effects BB Cream complimentary from Influenster
